wanna be young

I recently got this headband from F21 couple days ago and I've been wearing it everyday. I like it because it covers my roots and also when my scalp is greasy. But, I think sister Kim was shocked because it made me look younger and maybe inappropriate for my age? I joked with my niece that I was her older sister and she would say, "Silly eemo (aunt)."
Anyways, I will be sporting this kind of headband until I get multiple dirty looks from people, like "Oh my gosh, what is that old lady wearing?"
No shame...

Another must have item in your closet are leggings. I always bought really cheap leggings from Target or F21. I would have to throw them away after one season or I wouldn't be able to wear them on cold days because they were so thin. In November, I found leggings from Zara that were thick and also allowed me wear shorter sweater tops without worrying about if my butt would show. I bought it for $35 each, but it's been a great investment and I wear them at least once a week.

Happy Monday everyone!

Brown Boots from DSW so comfortable and wear all the time (must have)

Blue geometric top also from Anthropologie

My second home

We recently had small group kick off last week and we did this fun little exercise where we get to know each other more.
We had to draw things that represent us, and one of the boxes we drew in was where you feel most comfortable... Many people drew their own house, but naturally, I drew a picture of Nordstrom!
Nordstrom has everything I want and the department store never disappoints me in terms of customer service and return policy. I love it there. I know I will be taken care of.
I was not having a good week, but after shopping a little (getting a pair of sandals), of course I knew everything was going to be ok.

So I recently bought this at Publix. It was 2 dollars off and so it ended up to be 6 dollars. I was looking for toner, but I am glad I found this. I love anything that says NEW and wanted to try right away.
So, if you are like me, love wearing gel/liquid eyeliner and mascara...this is heaven!
I normally would wash my face at night, and then use Laura Mercier eye make-up remover with a q-tip. Then, in the morning, I would have to do the same thing again before I applied fresh make-up because I would still have eyeliner on the bottom of my eyes. I was worried a little because using q-tips so much would cause more wrinkles around my eyes. With this, I put a dab on my eye and rub it, then I either wash my face or use a tissue to remove the lotion, and it is ALL gone. Next morning, I have no make-up residue.  I LOVE IT!

Coral/Orange

I'm not exactly sure what color this is but I think I have a very strong affinity to this color.  It darker than a coral but pinker than an orange.  However, I have many different items of clothing that is fully this color or has this color in it.  I'm realizing this in my interior decorating style as well. There are certain looks and colors I'm apparently drawn to that I never realized before.  I never knew I had a strong preference until I started "pinning" what I liked. Then I noticed that what I like all have a similar look and feel to it.  I still don't know how to express my style but apparently my subconsciousness knows me better than myself. Ha!

Relaxing Saturday

Couple of months ago I was working like every weekend for work. I had to go to school during the weekday and work on a weekend and I missed out on a lot of events. I hated it because I never got to spend quality time with my husband. But now, we have the best time together! It's funny because we never really had a honeymoon stage right after marriage since we were so busy with work. It's going to 4 years in August, and I feel like we are going through our honeymoon stage right now.
My outfit today reflects my casual and relaxing Saturday.

I got these bracelet cuffs for V-Day! If you guys are petite and wrist are small, these work really well. You can adjust the size so they don't fall off.

I don't feel like dressing up mood

I have been at home a lot doing nothing but studying. My outfit consists of my PJs and my black yoga pants. I haven't had the feeling to dress up for awhile. Yes, I love shopping and I love fashion, but sometimes you have days where you are not inspired and feel like you have nothing to wear.
Yesterday, I finally had a day off, and I changed my outfit about 20 times. I just couldn't put an outfit together and I felt like nothing in my wardrobe looked good together.
This was the best I could do.

Favorite Go-To Outfit

This has been a recent favorite go-to outfit. I think I've talked about each of these pieces in previous posts so there's nothing new about each item. However, I think I wear this look at least once a week. I change out my shirt, shoes, and jewelry but the look is similar. Plus, this jacket is great. I wear it ALL the time. I like this look because it's effortless and you look put together.

What's your go-to outfit?

Denim Vest

This denim jacket I got it from a thrift store for $5 dollars. It served me well for several months, but I finally invested in a new fitted denim jacket from Madewell. This one is from Old Navy, but it's boxy on me and doesn't fit me well.
I also wanted to purchase a denim vest, but I couldn't get myself to spend $80-90 dollars for a jacket without any sleeves. So, I decided to make my own denim vest.

I cut the sleeves more and it looked better.

I can't wait to wear this jacket more in the spring/summer!

Happy Thursday!

Instagram Work Clothes

During the week it's hard to take photos since it's usually dark in the mornings and I'm just exhausted when I get home from work.  So, I'm going to try to do these Instagram self-photos during the work week (which for me is Tues-Thurs, or least those are the days I'm dressed in work clothes).

Favorite item:  My animal print shoes from Nine West.  I bought these 2 years ago and wear them ALL the time.

Black and White

I really love this lace skirt that I got from F21.  I love all the different ways you can dress it up and down.  It's also a sure way to get a feminine look without looking too frilly.  I really like how this skirt looks with this bomber jacket.  The jacket itself is a feminine version of a bomber jacket, the way it is tailored.  I love the simplicity of this outfit with the feminine touches.

ModCloth

Couple of weeks ago, I decided to check out ModCloth. My church friend recommended me to check out their website and they have lots of cute clothes. Style is a mix between Anthropologie and Francesca's. Well, it's been over a year since I've browsed through the website and never bought anything. A couple of weeks ago they were having 70% of sale items. The only negative thing was I guess so many people were on the website, so I kept getting kicked off. Also, I didn't realized I had to create an account to keep my items in my bag, so I lost two good sweaters that were sold out by the time I made a username! I had my ipad, MacBook, and my iphone trying to navigate the website and making sure I had all my items in my bag. At the end, I got 2 sweaters, 1 blouse, and 2 dresses for $74 dollars. Free shipping spending $50 dollars. Not bad!
The quality is much better than F21 and asos. Anyways, I'll be shopping there more often!

Confession

So, on my very first blog post I mentioned that I'm not really a "fasionista."  I know what I like and I'm good at copying what I see, but I also recognize that I like my old stuff and am not always good at buying the "trendy" things.  Thankfully, I have a sister that has a more current fashion sense than I do, which means I borrow things from her and take all the things that do not fit her anymore (we call them hand-me-ups).  Other than my bag, everything is from my sister.  The shirt and pants are hand-me-ups, the cardigan is a gift from her, and the shoes are borrowed.
